Beamworx - AutoPatch

AutoPatch
Tool for calibrating how a multibeam echosounder or laser scanner is mounted on the vessel. It uses a normal patch-test survey to compute installation angles and related offsets, so the setup can be verified and recorded before production work starts.

The workflow is meant for use on board: load the recorded lines, run the solve, then inspect roll, pitch and heading in plan and slice views. Suitable data are chosen automatically, a solution is fitted across several lines, and the same input gives the same answer whoever runs it. Spikes are removed before the calculation. Geometry is based on full ray tracing, not a simplified path.

Besides the three mounting angles, the same run can highlight timing errors (position, motion, sonar latency), sound-speed / SVP issues, IMU alignment problems and transducer lever-arm error. Proposed corrections can be applied and checked on screen. A height-fit option is available when RTK is not in use. Sound-speed behaviour can be reviewed and the SVP adjusted.

Single- and dual-head systems are supported, including separate transmit and receive arrays. Files can be read from common acquisition packages, including QINSy XTF, Hypack HSX, Kongsberg ALL/KMALL, Teledyne PDS, WASSP, Reson S7K, GeoSwath RDF and BeamworX raw. At the end of the job, AutoPatch writes a detailed calibration report for the client or the project QA file.

AutoPatch is a standalone BeamworX module, licensed on a yearly subscription. It can be used on its own or together with the other BeamworX tools. Supplied by GBT.
