GBT Offshore is proud to support young researchers in the geological community through a new initiative launched for the upcoming SGI-SIMP Joint Congress, taking place in Padua from September 16 to 18, 2025.

As part of Italy’s most important geological event, GBT Offshore will sponsor the full congress registration fee for the PhD student who submits the best abstract in Session P41:
“Submarine evolution in volcanic settings and continental margins”

Why this initiative?

Our commitment to scientific research goes hand in hand with promoting emerging talent. Session P41 focuses on the evolution of submarine landscapes in volcanic environments and along continental margins—key topics for understanding and managing deep-sea marine ecosystems.

Through this sponsorship, we aim to reward scientific excellence, innovative methodology, and applied research potential among early-career scientists.

Who is it for?

This initiative is open to PhD students submitting an original and high-quality abstract to Session P41. The abstract selected as the best by the session conveners will be granted free registration to the congress, sponsored by GBT Offshore.
